Andy Connors lives in Bellefield, Enniscorthy, in County Wexford. He’s a modest singer, often protesting that he doesn’t know any songs, but a few prompts later and he’ll be in full flow. When he does launch into song, it’s something the listener will not forget, such is the distinctive power of his voice.
He is eager to tell listeners how good a singer his son, Paddy, is. “You’ll never hear finer sounds,” he says. Andy’s mother was also reportedly an excellent singer, and Andy learned much of his repertoire from her. Born a Goggins, his mother, Katie Connors, was also from Wexford. “I could listen to her for a hundred years,” he says, fondly.
